CereScan, the nation’s leader in providing statistically measured brain diagnostics, was invited by Dr. Bruce Perry, MD, PhD, to participate with him in presenting advances in implementation and innovation in practice, program development, and policy related to childhood trauma during the 2nd International Neurosequential Model Symposium. The event, held at the Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada on June 8-10, 2016, will feature innovations in research, clinical practice and education in all areas related to maltreatment and trauma in children.

While the focus will be on the Neurosequential Model, complementing perspectives and practices will be presented. Dr. Rick Fort and Shane Quint from CereScan will co-present with Dr. Perry on “Core Cerebellar and Related Alterations in SPECT Imaging in Maltreated Children”, and in a workshop entitled, “The Evolution of Using Neuroimaging in Neuropsychiatry.” The forum will allow CereScan to highlight the importance of data-driven analytics in the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of brain related disorders through its patented neuroimaging database systems and methods. CereScan can provide a more granular view of abnormal perfusion in the brain which often correlates with the symptoms experienced by the patient.

“The NMT Symposium is a superb opportunity for CereScan to collaborate with an impressive list of medical researchers and professionals who are dedicated to helping the victims of childhood trauma and abuse,” said Dr. Rick Fort of CereScan. “We are proud to support their efforts by sharing our data and findings from a SPECT imaging study of traumatized children. This study aligns with our mission of advancing brain science and improving patient outcomes, especially for the most vulnerable patient, the abused or traumatized child.”

Bruce Perry, MD, PhD is the Senior Fellow of The Child Trauma Academy, a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, Texas, and adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Perry is the author of “The Boy Who Was Raised As A Dog”, a bestselling book based on his work with maltreated children, and “Born For Love: Why Empathy is Essential and Endangered.
